Novela costumbrista
En el pueblo de Cumbrales, las labores del campo y las reuniones de vecinos se mezclan con disputas políticas y rivalidades familiares. Los amores de los jóvenes, entre ellos Pablo y Nisco, se ven afectados por ese ambiente. La novela recorre las costumbres, el paisaje y las tensiones de una comunidad rural de la Montaña cántabra.
