Summary
In Piperock, Montana, Ike Harper hears Magpie Simpkins pretending to be in a dramatic scene and learns that Magpie has become interested in acting. Magpie explains that Madame Della Selva has arrived in town to mount a home-talent stage production called For the Love of Annibel at the old Mint dance hall, and he expects to take part. Despite Ike’s misgivings, the two head to the gathering where townspeople have come to discuss the play.
