Summary
Set in the Mughal court, this volume follows Jehangire’s struggle against the rebellion led by his son Chusero, whose party gathers support from Rajaput chiefs and disaffected troops. As the rebels move from Muttra toward Delhi and then Lahore, the emperor responds by assembling a large army and preparing to lead it himself, while court politics are unsettled by rival appointments and widespread mistrust.
