Summary
Set in the Montana cattle country of Piperock and Yellow Rock County, this western centers on sheriff Magpie Simpkins and his associate Ike Harper as they deal with repeated cattle thefts. A self-styled preacher known as Obadiah Ezekiel Moses, or the Bringer of Light, arrives in town, and his arrival overlaps with talk of rustlers, missing cows, and the county’s need for help. The story also brings in Scenery Sims, one of the cattlemen involved in seeking a detective to track the thieves.
