Summary
Set on the Cross L ranch, this Western centers on cowhand Peace Parker, whose quiet manner and skill on the range make him something of an enigma to ranch owner Cross L Marshall. Their talk turns to Marshall’s disapproval of Peace’s interest in Jess, who is already engaged to Frank Campion, and to the tension around who should marry whom. The story also hints at wider ranch and town concerns, including rumors from nearby places and the movement of horses and cattle.
