Summary
On a westbound train crossing the plains and desert, a young woman finds herself stranded in a rough sleeping car when her reservation fails to appear. An anxious journey turns calmer as she notices two men across the aisle: one coarse and threatening, the other, Jasper Holt, who seems steady, protective, and unlike anyone she has known. As the trip continues, his guarded interest in her grows into the sense that she may embody the purity and goodness he has long been searching for.
