Summary
In Mohave Wells, Sheriff Buck Brady watches a brother and sister heading by stage to Lone Mule City, a rough mining town dominated by Dave Skinner and Charley Eley. Troubled by what he hears about the pair’s control of the town and their use of deceptive job offers to draw women into their saloons and honky-tonks, Buck follows their situation through the stage driver Larry Lebec. The story centers on Buck’s misgivings about Lone Mule’s corruption and the danger facing the Nestor siblings there.
