Summary
Hen Peck tells of life on the Cross J ranch in Montana with Telescope Tolliver, Muley Bowles, and Chuck Warner, a rough quartet marked by humor, tall talk, and constant trouble. The story centers on their banter about cleanliness and a proposed swim at a secluded hole near Tin Cup Creek, then shifts to the news that Sheriff McFee is hunting two nude men who escaped after attacking him during transport. Their reactions and quarrels frame the ranch crew’s comic world.
