Summary
A weary gold prospector named Comanche Cal gives up on a shallow, worked-out claim after finding no color in the pan. He is then confronted by an exhausted stranger who is leading his burro, claims to be wanted, and identifies himself as a Hollibaugh, a family known for taking what they want. Their exchange turns into a dry, ironic partnership as the stranger suggests they travel together and even talks about going after the sheriff.
