Summary
In this Western story, Telescope Tolliver, Chuck Warner, Muley, and Henry Peck spend their time trading jokes about honesty, lying, and the way cowboys use exaggeration as a kind of art. Telescope insists on honesty but is teased for not being able to lie, while Chuck and the others boast about falsehoods, poker faces, and invented family history. The group also argues over a letter Telescope receives and over what can truly be called a birthplace or a fortune.
