Summary
In the Southwest near the Painted Desert, three men flee after a stage robbery with stolen gold, one of them badly wounded. When they reach a shack they expect to hide in, they discover two babies inside and learn the injured man is the children’s father, who asks them to protect the infants and send them to his sister in Denver. The story centers on the robbers’ uneasy choice between escaping with the loot and taking responsibility for the children.
