Summary
Recluses is a short story about Queen, a dog raised from wolf stock who lives among sportsmen at the Cougar Den camp on the edge of the wilderness. Though she shows the manners of a domestic dog, she keeps much of her wild skill, hunts fish and game, and later roams with a wolf mate named President while avoiding people and hunters. The story follows her movements between camp life, the open country, and periods of retirement when she raises wolf pups.
