Summary
Set in the twenty-sixth century, this science-fiction story follows interplanetary radio communications between Earth and Mars and the work of a Meteorological Bureau that monitors conditions in space. After a message warns of several large meteors passing near Mars, the bureau orders Jan Trenton and other space flyers to prepare at once and gather samples, along with any valuable stones or metals they may find. The opening also establishes a world of specialized spacecraft, advanced radio equipment, and routine traffic among Earth, Mars, and Venus.
