Summary
A young man comes to WMQZ seeking a tryout, and Betty Parsons, who handles the station’s front desk and applause mail, decides whether he can be passed along to program director Henri Salzman. The story stays close to the daily workings of a broadcasting station, where listener letters, studio technique, and the right kind of introduction can matter as much as performance itself. Betty’s attention is divided between her office routine and her interest in the visitor, while Henri prepares one of his musical features and weighs how radio acts are judged.
