Summary
Sa scéal seo, bíonn Cormac Ua Conaill ina bhuachaill óg atá ag filleadh ón scoil nuair a labhraíonn seanduine rúndiamhair leis agus a thugann rann fáidhiúil dó. Spreagtar Cormac chun machnaimh ar bhrí na bhfocal, ar shaol na hÉireann faoi smacht na Sasanach, agus ar a mhian go bhfeicfeadh sé saoirse agus creideamh Caitliceach á gcosaint. De réir a thuiscint féin, ceanglaíonn sé an tuar le ceist na ceannaireachta i gcoibhneas le hIarla na Deasmhumhan agus le Seaghán, deartháir an Iarla.
