Summary
A Federation ship reaches a dangerous planet where several previous crews and three search ships have vanished without a visible enemy. As the crew studies a half-buried wreck on the desert surface, Commander Warrick briefs nearly fifty men on the losses and says their mission is to identify and destroy whatever is causing the disappearances. Computer specialist Harley Allison works amid the tension while the ship circles the site and the crew prepares to go down for a closer look.
