Summary
Set in Siena and the Palazzo Festini in 1899, the story centers on the aristocratic Festini family, whose name carries old feuds and a reputation for political violence. Salvani Festini, an imposing and menacing patriarch, sits with his two sons while one asks about government suspicion of the Red Hand and the family’s links to crime. The elder son is connected to an investigation led by a professor, and tensions within the household rise around loyalty, suspicion, and the family’s secretive standing.
