Summary
This western centers on Jerk Line Smith, a freighter hauling supplies, dynamite, and whisky to Montana mining camps with a wagon outfit and team of horses. It also follows his swamper, Two Dog Moore, who helps with the hard work on the road but lives in constant fear of powder because of a past mining accident that cost him fingers and toes. The book presents the rough travel, harsh weather, and colorful talk of these frontier freighters as part of the old West.
