Summary
The book tells of Little Black Quibba, whose mother Black Flumbo is dangerously ill and needs mangoes to recover. He sets out with a basket to find them, but first meets an Elephant who refuses to help and then a Snake who lures him toward a mango grove while planning to eat him. After a struggle involving the Snake, the Elephant, and the frogs, Quibba reaches the mangoes, gathers them, and returns home, where the fruit helps his mother regain her strength.
