Summary
A young man wakes in an unfamiliar Connecticut city with no memory of his name or past. Frightened but coherent, he takes stock of his clothes, pockets, and surroundings, learns where he is, and realizes that his condition seems to be amnesia rather than insanity. The story follows his effort to understand the stranger reflected back at him and decide what to do next.
